Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences united European elite and young researchers in Biomedical and Health Informatics to exchange new methods and results to make Digital Health better through good evaluation.
It was agreed that in a time of disrupting digital transformations only well evaluated products and entire systems bring added value to patients, doctors, nurses and organisations. Only they can enhance patient safety.
A total of 190 participants from 31 countries demonstrated the value of networking to spark off new ideas and projects. They also celebrated the European virtue of uniting people across regions, countries and continents.
Chaired by Prof. Ursula Hübner the conference was organised by a team from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (The Team Yellow), Osnabrück HealthCampus, the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI under the presidency of Lars Lindsköld) and the German Association of Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology e.V. (GMDS under the presidency of Hans-Ulrich Prokosch).
Inspiring and thought provoking keynote speeches enriched the discussions
- Linda W. Dusseljee‑Peute (University Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) „Bridging the Gap: Aligning EHR Design, Healthcare Practices and End-User eXperience“
- Gillian Matthews (Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, UK) „Evaluating AI for Digital Pathology“
- Hans‑Ulrich Prokosch (University Hospital Erlangen, Germany) „AI in Healthcare: Moving from Research Applications to Clinical Implementation“
- Petter Hurlen (Åkershus University Hospital Oslo, Norway) „Why SNOMED CT Fails to Succeed. A Medical Perspective on Health Informatics.“
The theme of the conference resonated in the 71 presentations, 14 workshops/panels, 20 posters and 7 contributions to industry and practice sessions, a workshop for young researchers (yEFMI LEAD) and a usability testing scenario demonstrated by the Aachen Medical Informatics teams of Myriam Lipprandt.
We thank all participants for their excellent presentations, enthusiasm and cheerfulness.
The journey to better Digital Health continues.
