The Medical Informatics Europe (MIE) journey continues as preparations begin for MIE 2027, to be held in Tallinn, Estonia, from 26-30 April 2027.

For the first time in its history, MIE will be hosted in Estonia, a country internationally recognized for its pioneering digital society, advanced eHealth ecosystem, and commitment to innovation in public services. The conference will be organized by EstMIA in collaboration with EFMI and is expected to bring together leading experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry representatives, students, and young professionals from across Europe and beyond.

Under the theme “Empowering People with Trusted, Sustainable, and Connected Health Data for Active and Healthy Longevity,” MIE 2027 will focus on the opportunities and challenges of leveraging health data to improve healthcare delivery, support research and innovation, and promote healthier lives for citizens.

As Europe advances towards a more connected healthcare landscape through initiatives such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS), MIE 2027 will provide a unique platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and discussion on the future of health informatics. Topics will include interoperability, digital health transformation, artificial intelligence, health data governance, patient empowerment, and sustainable healthcare systems.

Tallinn offers a fitting backdrop for these discussions. Known globally for its digital-first approach and innovative healthcare infrastructure, Estonia continues to serve as an inspiring example of how technology can enhance public services and improve citizens’ lives.

Following the success of MIE 2026 in Genoa, Italy, the European medical informatics community now looks forward to gathering in Tallinn to continue shaping the future of digital health and health informatics.
