1991                     Ph.D. (Dr. sc. hum.) from Faculty of Theoretical Medicine at the Uni­versity of Heidelberg

1995                     license for lecturing (Habilitation) for medical informatics from the Faculty of Theoretical Medicine at the University of Heidelberg

1996                     Professor for medical informatics at the Institute of Medical Informatics, Statistics, and Epidemiology of the University of Leipzig, Germany

My research focuses on methods for strategic information management and IT-service-management in health care, on modelling, analysing, controlling, and comparing health information systems, on IT support for translational medicine, and on ethics of medical informatics, statistics, and epidemiology.

I am

• teaching courses on Architecture of Health Information Systems and Management of Health Information Systems for medical students and bachelor and master programs for students of computer science in Leipzig, Germany;
• engaged in strategic information management at Leipzig University Hospital and Leipzig University Medical Faculty;
• member of the board of the German Association of Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS), the German Association of Medical Informatics Professionals (BVMI), and member of the council of the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI);
• editor in chief of the open access journal GMS Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (http://www.egms.de/dynamic/en/journals/mibe/index.htm).
