I am a senior clinical academic with research interests in disease surveillance, quality improvement and research. My particular interests are how you integrate technology into clinical workflow, and measure quality and health outcome from routine health data. My professional background is as a general practitioner, with my masters and doctorate in medical informatics; though I largely see technology as a tool for quality improvement (QI), greater efficiency and for improved management of health systems. I am appointed as Professor of Primary Care and Clinical Informatics at University of Oxford. I am also the Director of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research and Surveillance Centre; http://www.rcgp.org.uk/rsc/ a sentinel network for flu and other infectious diseases.
I still practise as a GP at Woodbridge Hill Surgery, http://www.woodbridgehillsurgery.co.uk/ in Guildford, Surrey, UK
